Big Dreams Have Wings |
22"x 30" Image Size Original Sold; Available as Giclee Print As I walked on the beach in December, mulling over the events of my life, a title Big Dreams Require Big Seeds popped into my head. A moment later I saw fresh coconuts floating in the bay; a painting was born. It didnt take long between the birth of the first painting and the initiation of this, the second. |
Coming Out of Hiding |
18"x 24" Image Size Original Sold; Available as Giclee Print The flowers portrayed in this Award-winning painting are Heliconia. Heliconia come in many shapes and sizes. Some, like this Lobster Claw variety, grow upwards, while others hang down. The true flowers are small, conical, and grow inside the dramatic showy bracts. Heliconia are long-lasting in tropical floral arrangements, a mainstay of the Hawaiian cut-flower industry. This piece holds the energy of becoming more visible in the world. Whether your intention is personal or professional, meditating upon this image can help you to come out of hiding in your life. |
Sometimes I Just Like to be Horizontal |
30"x 11" Image Size Original Available Anthurium come in a variety of shapes and sizes. The flowers portrayed in this painting are Obake Anthurium. Obake means ghost in Japanese. This variety of Anthurium was so named because its flowing shape is reminiscent of the traditional shape of a ghost. This particular flower was growing horizontally, and it was HUGE. I decided to paint it in all its glory, horizontally. The bonus came when I realized the painting works in both directions: it can be hung either vertically or horizontally. It will truly fit in that odd space you've been looking to fill. |
An Inner Glow |
| 22"x 30" Image Size Original Available I was still new to the islands when I found my first baby coconut. I had no idea what it was and asked several friends before discovering its identity. This painting is the expression of the beauty I saw in it; and the love I felt for it and from it. |

Passion Grows |
| 22"x 30" Image Size Original Available The colors of this cactus captured my attention as I drove up East Manoa Rd. on Oahu. I stopped one day to take the photos from which I painted this piece. While painting it, I saw a series of heart shapes in its structure. It grows with such exuberance and joy, its passion builds upon itself. |
Reaching Consensus |
| 22"x 30" Image Size Original Available As is often the case, the title of this painting was suggested by the flowers themselves. I knew I wanted to paint the Obake Anthurium, a favorite subject of mine, I didnt know what the flowers had to say until half way through the endeavor. Then it was clear the central portion of the painting is made of new colors, not previously seen in the piece. This is where we come to grips with our differences and find a new perspective from which to live life together. |
Reach for the Stars |
11"x 30" Image Size Original Available; Available as a Hand-enhanced Giclee The flowers portrayed in this painting are Heliconia. Related to the banana plant, Heliconia come in many shapes and sizes. Some grow upwards, as shown in this print, while others hang down. The true flowers are small, conical, and grow inside the dramatic bracts shown here. Heliconia are long-lasting in floral arrangements, and are considered a mainstay of the Hawaiian cut-flower industry. It seems to me these heliconia Reach for the Stars to express their joy. I hope they help you reach your stars, your goals, your dreams, your joy in life. Its through reaching that we stretch, through stretching that we grow, and by growing, expand our horizons. |
